FAQs

What the Bible Says on Marriage:

I believe the word of God clearly states that marriage is between one man and one woman. A deeply rooted covenant meant to be a beautiful image pointing to the more beautiful covenant between Christ and the Church.

(Genesis 2:18,24, Mark 10:9, Ephesians 5:21-33, 1 Peter 3:1-7)

What the Bible says on Gender:

I believe the word of God clearly states that when God created mankind he made two distinct and yet complimentary genders; male & female. God created mankind in this way to fulfill needs both in each other and for each other. These two genders when working in harmony together showcase the beauty and intricacy of God’s design that fosters cooperation and unity together, over the rise and dissonance of the pursuit of self.

I also recognize that the fall of our world is lived out by creation in ways that are not inherently sinful, but rather effects of the fall that plague people through sickness, disease, and being born with organs that belong to both genders. I adhere to the reality that God will make all things new and that in the in-between we seek to love and walk alongside anyone who may be suffering in any way.

(Genesis 1:27, Matthew 19:4, Ephesians 5:21)

What the Bible says on Abortion:

I believe that the Bible is clear on when life begins, that it is at conception. And that every baby in the mothers womb is human life that must be protected by those who have the capabilities. Therefore it follows that I believe Abortion to be murder. I also strongly believe that it is imperative that the church lead the front lines in caring for mothers and families, both during pregnancy and after, including organizations that care for those put up for adoption.

(Genesis 1:26-27, Psalm 139:13-16, Jeremiah 1:5)

What the Bible says on Politics:

I believe that God has given mankind and subsequently Christianity the responsibility to care for the world and the people that which inhabit it. To that degree I believe that it is important that Christians stay informed and work within the confines of their own limitations to care for those around them and the world in which they inhabit, in America this means staying informed to vote in a way that glorifies God and pursues that mission. To live in the world and not of the world, means to participate with the overarching reality that God rules over nations and His will is sovereign over all governments.

(Romans 13:1-7, 1 Timothy 2:1-2, Acts 5:29, Matthew 22:17-21, Deuteronomy 15:7-11)

The Gospel will only ever be a gift:

The Gospel is the good news that Christ came as fully God and fully Man to make a way for mankind to find shalom once more with their creator. It is a gift that can never be earned, nor bought. I reject the ideologies that masquerade as counterfeit gospels, demanding works based salvation, teach prosperity, or health based gospel, promising financial or bodily prosperity in exchange for “seeds sown” or the concept that with enough faith you can change the will of God. I believe that God still performs miracles in our days, yet His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways.

(Ephesians 2:8-9, Isaiah 55:8-11, Romans 1:16)

Where do I draw my conclusions and am I willing to listen and hear the other side?

It is my intention that I draw all things back to scripture regardless of the question or topic being discussed. I want first and foremost for the Lord to guide me in my understanding of what I perceive and to humbly grow me in my understanding of the world in which I inhabit, the people I encounter, and the actions I partake in. I will always seek to make Scripture my first source, while potentially supplementing it with theologians and dear friends whom I trust to see things from a biblical perspective.

I believe that truth will always prevail and that it is important we don’t place ourselves in an echo chamber. I am deeply encouraged by healthy debate, and welcome discourse that from all sides. I understand my own limited world view and am so thankful that the Lord has continued to grow me in understanding His creation in new ways, as I continue to pursue Him
