Christianity Is…

  • Christianity is a religion based upon the Holy Scriptures and teachings of Jesus Christ. To be a Christian, or Christ-follower, means to have a personal relationship with the eternal God through the mediation of Christ under the guidance and filling of the Holy Spirit. (Colossians 2:6-7, John 15:4)

  • Christianity is made up of the larger world wide Church, spanning both time and space and filled with different denominations that may differ in forms of worship or more minor aspects of theology. (Revelation 7:9)

  • Christianity, to the believer, is the justification through faith in Christ, the sanctification of oneself throughout life as we are being transformed by the renewing of our minds, and ultimately the glorification when we enter into eternity with God in a new heaven and new earth. (Romans 5:1-2, 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, 1 John 3:2)

  • Christianity is the one true path to God and salvation. While this in no way means that Christians themselves always get it right, it does acknowledge the reality of absolute truth as ascribed by God through His Word, applicable to all peoples of all nations, throughout all of time. (John 14:6)

  • Christianity is a calling of all believers to share the truth in love with those that inhabit their world. Speaking against injustices, fighting for the oppressed, and caring for the least of these. (Micah 6:8)
